Mobile Marketing

I am sure everyone already knows, Facebook is one of the best ways for peers to interact with one another. It is also a great way for businesses to interact with potential costumers.  Businesses are taking this interaction further than Facebook, though.  Foursquare and Groupon are also potential outlets for businesses to attract costumers.

Many of these social media outlets have apps which allow you too check and update social media from a smart phone.  One of the features of these apps is the ability to check into a location.  Businesses have jumped on this feature as a way to market their business.  The person checking into your business has already done the work, they check in and everyone can see that they are there.  Others see it, they are interested and may visit.  But businesses are taking it to another level.  Businesses are starting to give discounts or deals for checking into the place of business.  Lets say you check into Red Barn and you get 25% off on Busch Light.  Thats a deal one can't pass up!  It is a simple, easy way of marketing which pretty much lets the consumer do all of the work.

  1. Allowing a consumer to check-in to your business for rebates is one of the best advertising idea's of recent times. Consumers are much more likely to try a new service or product if their friends are the one's promoting it to them. Consumers are becoming increasingly anxious about advertisers assertions. Their friends however, are thought of as much more credible and trustworthy. This is one of the reasons why consumers have had so much success with this and why I am such an advocate.

  2. I worked at Mariahs this summer and we used the groupon app to generate business. The groupon cost $20, but a person would get a $40 Mariahs coupon to use for any one dinner. This definitely created a ton of business for us, and I would recommend it to any business. Good article!

  3. Yeah, using social networks or software such as foursquare and facebook. Those are actually pretty cool in the market now and the cost are relative low than other costs such as TV ads or flyers. I also wondered is there any disadvantages for social media tools. One article that I read about social media tools are the security issues about the mobile devices. This may be a threat to social media tools.

  4. Groupon is a great app and it is definitely one of my favorites. The best feature of the app is that it is location specific. I like the fact that I can find deals on my phone in whichever city I am in. I also like the fact that I get updates sent directly to my phone whenever a new deal gets posted. I would recommend this app 100% for people with smart phones!
